TAOYUAN EASY HIKES
DAKENG TUNG BLOSSOM TRAIL (大坑桐花步道)
A quiet leg-stretch through the hills and farmland of Guishan township. Come in April or May to enjoy the tung blossom that gives the trail its name.
GUI SHAN MOUNTAINTOP LOOP (龜山山頂小O型縱走)
A leisurely loop walk which starts out from a very 'Taiwan-feeling' village community. You'll pass university buildings, small ponds and a temple as well as meander through allotments and a graveyard. On clear days, there are views of layered hills out towards Sanxia and beyond from the easternmost point of the walk.
HUTOU SHAN PARK WALK (虎頭山公園)
A gentle and shaded forest park, walk - come here to get a feel for how the locals like to spend family weekends together.
FUYUAN ANCIENT BANYAN TRAIL (福源山步道)
A quiet and pretty hiking trail just outside of Taipei. Along the way you can enjoy quirks of nature like the thousand year banyan tree and a lily pond half way up a mountain (well, it's more of a big hill really).
YANG CHO FOREST TRAIL (羊稠森林步道)
An enjoyable stroll through shady forest with views of the HSR.
FUREN TRAIL (福人步道)
A nice shaded wander around a little strip of wooded land.
XIAOCUKENG ANCIENT TRAIL TO SHIMEN HILL (小粗坑古道/石門山)
A moderate afternoon hike up an old cattle path with a minor peak at the top.
GALAHE NATURAL HOT SPRING (嘎拉賀溫泉)
