A many-layered mountain forest trail leads up to an old fortress and a slice of Taiwan's history.

STEGOSAURUS RIDGE (劍龍稜/茶壺山)

An exhilarating (and rule breaking), straddling of the dinosaur's spine. Not one for the faint-hearted.

You'll enjoy your food (and your bed) very much after this tough climb.

Taiwan Trails and Tales Facebook
Although I’m dreading the return of summer temperatures and mosquitoes, this time of year is one I look forward to — it brings fireflies and tung blossom. I haven't been out on any firefly-watching expeditions yet, but in anticipation of the season, I've just added a new trail guide to the Taiwan Trails and Tales site. It covers a popular firefly viewing spot that I visited last year. Some 16x9 aspect ratio shots from a short stroll up to Pingjing Street this afternoon, where the second wave of cherry blossoms are very much still in bloom. Taiwan barbets (五色鳥) announcing the end of winter.

Note: Taiwan Trails and Tales has been going for over eight years now, so there are a fair few dead links and bits of information that need updating on the site. If you find one, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know either by commenting on that post or by dropping me a line in the contact form (on the "About" page) so that I can remove or update it.
