Deep in the lush green hills of Chiayi's Alishan Township, this short trail on the edge of Chashan Village hides a bizarre natural phenomenon. Here, gas and water bubble up through the earth's surface at the same spot, giving rise to a perpetual flame surrounded by a spring.

MOUNT TAIWU (太武山)

This 253m high peak is the ninety-ninth of Taiwan’s Xiao Bai Yue, and the highest point in the whole of Kinmen. From Jinsha and Jinhu Townships, it’s an especially commanding feature of the landscape, its pale granite flanks are visible from pretty much wherever you go.

Cherry blossom under blue skies in New Taipei’s Xizhi District. This week’s post covers Fulongshan Trail, a short and sweet walk in New Taipei’s Wugu District, which (in a couple of weeks’ time) should be looking pretty in pink. Happy faces all round.
