CHERRY BLOSSOM

CHERRY BLOSSOM in LOHAS PARK (樂活公園櫻花季)

/ taiwantrailsandtales / Leave a comment

Every sakura season, the otherwise non-descript Lohas Park becomes a crowded riot of colour as the full blooms of cherry trees attract hoards of sightseers and photographers. More blossom and some easy walking can be found along the banks of Neigou Creek, which straddles the boundary between Taipei and New Taipei.

Caopingtou Yushan Tourist Tea Garden is one of Taiwan's premier cherry blossom viewing spots. Each year, thousands of trees paint the slopes in beautiful shades of pink, drawing in blossom lovers from far and wide.

/ taiwantrailsandtales / Leave a comment

There are lots of cherry blossom viewing spots dotted around Taiwan, and taking a walk to enjoy the pretty pink petals is something that many locals like to indulge in at least once a year. This sakura spot in Yangmingshan National Park is an easy and convenient location to enjoy the pink petals.

CHERRY BLOSSOM, OLD CANALS AND HOT SPRINGS IN BEITOU DISTRICT (風尾步道/頂圳步道/拐圳步道/龍鳳谷步道)

img_2534 During the first three months of the year, this trail in Beitou is popular with sakura seekers. But even if you miss out on the beautiful blossoming trees, this walk still has plenty to offer. It takes in irrigation canals, streams, plenty of small temples and the dramatic sight of Sulphur Valley.

Bridges, historic trails, streams, waterfalls, temples, paddling, coffee, cats and cake. I am a happy girl today. After a pleasant sojourn abroad, I’m back in Taiwan and here are some photos from the latest post on the site. The walk featured here is short and easy enough that my mother-in-law was able to complete it with us, and it also features a rather lovely historic temple in Taouyuan’s Daxi District. Sometimes it’s the big scenery that’s beautiful and sometimes it’s the unexpected details.

Note: Taiwan Trails and Tales has been going for over eight years now, so there are a fair few dead links and bits of information that need updating on the site. If you find one, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know either by commenting on that post or by dropping me a line in the contact form (on the "About" page) so that I can remove or update it.

After a decade of running Taiwan Trails and Tales, I’ve come to the conclusion that it is time to make some changes. From now on, the trail details on some new guides (maps, transport and difficulty info) will be made available to members only. Don’t worry, though: all 500+ existing guides will stay completely free, as will the stories and photos on every new post.
