觀音山步道

September 22, 2025September 24, 2025 / taiwantrailsandtales / Leave a comment

觀音山從新北市八里和五股區的淡水河岸拔地而起。它的綽號是硬漢嶺,因為攀爬此山以前被用作軍警人員的強化訓練活動,對於不熟悉台灣陡峭階梯的人來說,很容易理解原因。

Climbing Taoyuan's Mount Xizhou—one of Taiwan's 100 Minor Peaks—is a pleasant half-day adventure on the northern edge of Shimen Reservoir. The shady trail winds up through a series of forest clearings and is a popular exercise spot for local retirees.

Last year, when I had a chunk of free time and a T-pass, I went on a mission to see how far the 北北基桃 (Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung and Taoyuan) pass would take me and ended up exploring a few spots in Taoyuan’s mountainous Fuxing District that I hadn’t previously been to, among them, Xiaowulai and the hot spring village of Luofu. Yes, it’s a long way, but if you pack a swimming costume, this is a full day out. Guess where. Tung season is currently bringing its white, green and blue colour palette to the hills of northern Taiwan. These photos are from Daqiong Trail in Taoyuan — a popular spot with blossom chasers.

Note: Taiwan Trails and Tales has been going for over eight years now, so there are a fair few dead links and bits of information that need updating on the site. If you find one, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know either by commenting on that post or by dropping me a line in the contact form (on the "About" page) so that I can remove or update it.
