COASTAL CAPERS

LINSHAN CAPE BOARDWALK (麟山鼻木棧道)

April 29, 2023December 2, 2024 / taiwantrailsandtales / Leave a comment

This gentle boardwalk trail on Taiwan's north coast is short and flat enough for strollers and wheelchair users.

FROG ROCK PARK COASTAL TRAIL (青蛙石海洋步道)

November 26, 2021November 16, 2024 / taiwantrailsandtales / Leave a comment

Frog Rock Coastal Trail is a short and easy walk just off the main drag of relaxed beach town, Kenting. As well as a tiny coral beach and coastal views, visitors can explore a beautiful replica of a traditional Minnan style village.

I love hiking in Ruifang District. On this occasion, we didn't end up where we had intended because the trail hadn't been walked in too long and had become overgrown to the point of being invisible, but there was still lots of interesting scenery. A shit detective story This is one of the weirder natural creations I’ve come across during my Taiwan trail adventures. I spotted it clinging to the underside of a screw pine leaf on Green Island’s Cross-Island Trail. It was maybe 3 centimetres in length and cotton-candy-like in texture but with a fine outer layer of pink threads. The internet seems to think it is a spider’s egg sac, specifically, some type of twig spider (weirdly wonderfully creatures).

Note: Taiwan Trails and Tales has been going for over eight years now, so there are a fair few dead links and bits of information that need updating on the site. If you find one, I would greatly appreciate it if you let me know either by commenting on that post or by dropping me a line in the contact form (on the "About" page) so that I can remove or update it.
