While Taiwan deserves to be known as a Mecca for outdoor enthusiasts, it sorely lacking in trails that make the great outdoors accessible for people who have different mobility requirements. In fact, you could go as far as to say that Taiwan is a pretty hostile environment for anyone who uses a wheelchair to get around or anyone who finds it easier to walk on smooth, uncluttered pavements. That said, there are a growing number of trails out there that have been designed with (at least some) thought given to how people with a range of physical abilities might want to access them. The trails featured on this page have all been modified to make access easier.
Please note that while I have tried to include any information that I think will be useful, I have not personally experienced these trails from the perspective of someone with disabilities. If you think I’ve missed something crucial, feel free to reach out and let me know.
