As Taiwan Trails moves into its second decade, I am attempting to keep this little corner of the internet both afloat and useful in the age of AI by locking certain parts behind a members-only paywall. Since all existing posts will remain free to access, I am keeping the annual fee low for now, but over time, more posts will be locked. For the past few years, I’ve been releasing new posts at the stupid rate of one per week, so if I keep that up, that means about 40 posts will be members-only by the end of 2027. I’m still working all this out, so please bear with me. Mostly, I hope the membership system serves the dual purposes of keeping this information up and available to a large number of people (preferably with the membership money funding the site’s upkeep), while also keeping it somewhat protected (I know that feels like a ridiculous dream in this internet age, but let me try).
